This week we are refraining from the following things

No sweets, No Red meats, No coffee, No caffeine, No junk food, No Fast Food!

Note: If you have already prepped Red Meats  for this Sunday's dinner prior to this post they will be allowed.  Be honest with yourselves if you have not then please follow the consecration instructions.

Also due to the cold weather the hot drink restrictions are still lifted and will be re-instituted at a later date.  Limit is only one cup, unless your job requires your to be outside all day or night. Then please limit your intake but stay warm.

This week until the end of the fast there will be no red meats eaten.  The meats allowed are: Chicken, Turkey, Fish, and Shell Fish (Shrimp, Clams, and Oysters).  We are gearing up for further consecration.

You should begin to experience that your bodies are detoxing from sugars and your desires for sweets, if you are following the consecration instructions have minimized.  It is hard at times to adjust and change your behaviors.

Setting/Putting aside specific items to bring our flesh under subjection is something we should consistently practice as Christians.  Fasting and giving up certain food items will help us to keep our flesh under subjection to the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 26:40-41 40 And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? 41 Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Jesus was dealing with the disciples who he found sleeping after he asked them to keep watch while he went to pray.  Verse 41 provides instructions for the disciples to keep praying so that they would not enter into temptation.  The disciples were sleepy instead of being able to push past the temptation/want of the flesh to sleep; Jesus informed them that the spirit is willing and the flesh is weak.

Our spirit is willing to accomplish the things God desires for us to however, the flesh being weak fights against those things.  We have to train our flesh to submit to God’s will for our lives.  Eve by falling into the temptation of eating from the forbidden tree shows us an example of what happens when we allow our weak flesh to overpower a willing spirit. Instead of obeying God we obey ourselves.  We know what doing this can cause.

Become people of discipline and understand through prayer and fasting we can train our flesh to become obedient to the will of God.
